Starbuck's: You Can Eat Healthy Here Too
Many people tend to think that because Starbucks offers so many fattening drinks, there aren't any healthy options there. But there are actually tons of ways and healthy menu options available. Here is a guide on how to eat healthy at Starbucks, so that you can still indulge, but in a more healthful manner.
1. Order the skinny lattes:
The 'skinny' lattes offer less calories and less fat. They are made with skim milk, no sugar added sweeteners, and no whipped cream. Great ones to try are the pumpkin spice latte, vanilla latte, and the caramel macchiato. Their skinny vanilla latte comes in at 13o calories with 0 grams of fat, while you can get their skinny caramel macchiato for 140 calories and 0 grams of fat. Check out their drink nutrition pages for more information: http://www.starbucks.com/menu/catalog/nutrition?drink=espresso#view_control=nutrition&drink=chocolate&drink=espresso
If you are looking to cut back on calories and fat, ordering a skinny latte is the way to go.
2. Try the teas:
If you are looking to get really healthy, while still enjoying yourself, try the Starbucks teas. With over 15 different types of tea, there are many different options. Teas offer 0 calories, 0 grams of fat, and 0 carbs. Adding honey, cinnamon, or cocoa to the tea is a great way to add flavor with minimal calories.
3. Order your coffee black:
If you decide to order coffee because you need caffeine, skip all of the cream and sugar. Starbucks offers many different types of coffee such as, pikes roast, breakfast blend, or the house blend. Many of their coffees are from many different types of the world, and don't need added flavoring. If you are watching the calories, drinking coffee black is your best bet.
4. Try a smoothie instead of a frappuccino:
The Starbucks smoothies, which are the Chocolate Smoothie, Orange Mango Smoothie, and Strawberry Smoothie, offer a healthier mixed drink. All three of these drinks can be made with non fat milk and are loaded with whey and fiber powder. With under 300 calories each, they are a great snack or breakfast meal.
5. Order healthy lunch or breakfast options:
Starbucks does offer many indulgences for breakfast and lunch such as: muffins, cookies, breads, and cakes. However, these are definitely not the healthiest options that they have available.
For breakfast, try ordering the Starbucks perfect oatmeal, or the reduced Fat Turkey/ Egg sandwich. Both of these options are under 350 calories and 7 grams of fat. Check out the link:

For lunch, try ordering a bistro box or fruit salad. Some of the bistro boxes available are: protein bistro box, cheese and fruit bistro box, chicken and hummus bistro box, and the tuna salad bistro box. Most of these boxes have only 200-400 calories and are a great option for lunch.
If you are absolutely in love with Starbucks, but are worried about watching your nutrition, just know that there are tons of healthy options available. The company does a great job of adding variety to their menu for the health conscious person.
